History Department Chair Fiona Halloran came to Rowland Hall In August 2010 from Eastern Kentucky University, where she taught 19th-century American history for four years. Before her sojourn in the bluegrass, Fiona taught at Bates College and at UCLA, where she earned her PhD in American history in 2005. She is a recipient of fellowships from the Huntington Library, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Gilder-Lehrman Institute of American History, as well as being an Associate Fellow of the Rothermere American Institute at the University of Oxford. She is the author of Thomas Nast: The Father of Modern Political Cartooning. Raised in South Carolina, Fiona has lived in seven states and traveled in Europe and the South Pacific. With her husband and son, she enjoys hiking, skiing, gardening, and cooking.
