Dear Rowland Hall Families and Friends,
As we approach the end of the fall term and the beginning of the holiday season, I wanted to write you and tell you what a pleasure it has been working with the students we have at Rowland Hall. This has been a very successful fall in so many ways. In particular, our high school students have truly excelled academically and athletically.
- The results of our students’ AP (Advanced Placement) exams were outstanding again this year. Of particular note is the success of the 14 students who took Advanced Placement BC Calculus. This is equivalent to a second year college calculus class, and one of the hardest classes and tests we offer. EVERY ONE of the students received a 5 on the exam—the highest score possible! This is very rare indeed.
- In addition, we are very proud that, this year, nine of our seniors were named National Merit Semi-finalists. That number, once again, gives Rowland Hall the highest percentage of these scholars in the state of Utah.
I hope you’ll take a moment to read more about how our students perform on AP exams as compared to students at other schools in this fall’s FINE PRINT (all new on November 25). Among other things, you’ll find out that 92 percent of our students’ AP scores were high enough for them to receive college credit (3, 4, or 5) compared with 60 percent of their peers nationally.
In Winged Lion sports, all six teams this fall won their Region Championships, Girls Tennis won State, and eight student-athletes won Individual State Championships. On November 23, you’ll receive in your inbox the premiere issue of THE FINISH LINE, an all sports e-newsletter in which you can read about the teams and their seasons’ successes. You’ll also find all things Rowmark Ski Academy in this new digital newsletter. It will come to you three times a year and we’d love to get your feedback on this new format.
Lastly, thank you to the parents who completed the brief online survey that we’ll use to compare ourselves to similar schools and to make our school even better. It was very gratifying to see that over 400 parents participated, the highest response rate we’ve ever had to a survey. We will report back on what we learned after we have had a chance to review the responses.
We have much to be thankful for as a school. I hope you enjoy a happy and delicious Thanksgiving break.
With appreciation for all the support you give to the school,
